Best for JB’s slow-grown, pasture-raised Bone-In Chicken Thighs, Drumsticks, and Wings
This JB’s Original Fried Chicken recipe has been slowly cultivated and perfected over the course of months — tested again and again with friends and family. It’s been such a crowd pleaser, it inspired me (JB) to put together my very own seasoning mix to share with you all!
Ingredients
8-12 Bone-In Thighs, Drumsticks, and/or Wing’s
2 cups flour
2 tablespoons JFC Seasoning (3 if you want extra flavor)
Seasoning Salt
2 48oz bottles vegetable oil
Step 1: Prep the Chicken
Remove your chicken from the package and allow it to sit on the counter for about 15 minutes.
Pat the chicken dry (as dry as you can possibly get it) with paper towel
Step 2: Heat Your Oil
Add 2 48oz bottles to a tall stock pot (it’s going to help a lot with splash and clean-up!)
Turn the stove on high and heat oil to 375°F
Step 3: Set Up the Breading Station
Use three zones:
Plate 1: For seasoning your chicken
Bowl: 2 cups of flour + 2-3 tbsps of JFC Seasoning, whisked together
Plate 2: For after breading
Step 3: Season and Bread the Chicken
Plate 1: Season both sides of your chicken lightly with seasoning salt
Bowl: Dip the chicken in the breading mix and coat completely
Plate 2: Place the breaded chicken on the plate for 30-45 seconds, then bread thoroughly again.
After the second breading, gently place the chicken into your hot oil immediately.
Step 4: Fry Until Crispy and Brown
Place one layer of chicken in the pot at a time, so it is completely covered in oil.
Allow the chicken to fry until internal meat temperature reaches 165°F
Carefully remove from oil with tongs and serve hot with your favorite steamed vegetables or potatoes
Allow the oil to reach 375°F again before starting the next batch.
